Well, I consider myself more open-minded than most when it comes to alternative therapies but this one I struggled with initially. I could not understand how the "essence" of various flowers, trees, etc. could alter behaviors and correct emotional imbalances within a person. It just didn't seem possible...that is until recently.
I purchased some of the Bach remedies a couple of months ago, and we initially tried the Rescue Remedy with our son. It is a combination remedy that helps with acute stress, and is a combination of several of the different flowers. I definately thought we saw something different, with a little bit of a calmer disposition but I could not be sure as we had also tried another supplements for calming (taurine) recently as well. I purchased The Encyclopedia of Bach Flower Therapy, as well as a book that addressed children specifically to learn more about the individual flowers, as now I was intrigued. Soon, I added in several of the individual remedies that address various behaviors, but before we could realize any benefits the tree pollen season arrived in Vermont. I wasn't sure if some of the facial hives we were seeing were due to the "flowers" in the remedies so we stopped them for about two months.
We introduced them again recently, and I can't attribute the amazing changes we have seen to anything else. Some of the ones we have been quite successful with are Rock Water, Vine, Agrimony, Aspen, Honeysuckle, Willow, Scleranthus, Genetian, Chicory, Beech, Holly and Vervain. We only added in one every couple of days, and with each we have seen interesting changes in our son.
One remedy that I thought that was particularly interesting was when we added in Aspen about a week ago. Aspen's description says "replaces apprehension and vague fears with a sense of security and peace of mind." I added it in the morning, and that evening we were outside with the kids on the playset. Our son has never been interested in swinging on a regular swing. He was so nervous that he couldn't even verbalize why he didn't want to swing....he just avoided it completely. Well that evening, he asked to get on the swing! Not only that, he stayed on the swing for over 15 minutes begging me to swing him higher and higher! It was surreal! He has been doing it ever since as well. He gets the remedies daily in two droppers with water, and has been doing extremely well. Overall, he is much calmer, has better focus, and the ADHD behaviors have been dramatically reduced.
Wow, and all of this from something as simple as flowers? Check it out: http://www.bachflower.com/index.html
