Over the past 4 years, I have been working closely with a company in Ohio called A Natural Home http://www.anaturalhome.com/. I found this company when I started searching for an organic baby mattress for our daughter, and over the years they have made sustainable, beautiful hardwood furniture for both of the kids’ rooms, two sofas, and various other items like dressers and tables. Having an organic mattress was one of the most important first steps we made for our son, and for our own health.
They even worked very closely with us to make a special custom bed for our son that ended up looking like a twin-sized crib, to keep him safe while giving him more space to move around at night. The owner Susie and I have become close friends over the years, and I am going to start working with her by this Fall to put together special discounts for families with children on the spectrum. I feel strongly about helping kids with sensitivities since I have one of my own and have been down the difficult path trying to figure it all out. I really think that this is a great avenue to hopefully make it a bit more affordable to “go green and healthy” in your home, especially when expenses run high for the typical family affected by autism. I highly recommend her company, and Susie is an amazing woman!
